Ride the ‘Spitfire’ to the Faversham Hop Festival. Travel behind a lovingly-restored, historic, mainline, steam locomotive as Britain’s Oldest Brewer conjures up the atmosphere of the trains that once carried thousands of happy hop pickers from London to the Kentish countryside.

LONDON – FAVERSHAM
Climb aboard the train of historic carriages and settle back into your reserved seat as you retrace the journey of East End hop pickers from London to the countryside of Kent for their annual working holiday.

Your train will steam out of London Bridge at around 9.45am*, and head through Bexleyheath, Dartford and the Medway Towns to Faversham where arrival in is expected at 11.45am*.


There will be plenty of time to savour the distinctive sights,sounds and tastes of the festival before joining the train for the return trip to London.


Your return journey* includes a scenic tour of Kent including Dover, Ashford and Tonbridge giving our express engine a chance to stretch its legs before running via Redhill and East Croydon. Arrival back in London is expected at 8.00pm*.

Roomy,comfortable seating is in groups of 2 and 4 around tables.
Each table is adjacent to a window and the central aisle.If you book fewer than4 tickets you will probably share a table. Seating at tables of 2 can be guaranteed on payment of an additional £7.50 per person.

FAVERSHAM – DOVER PRIORY

FULLY BOOKED
The train will also make a return trip from Faversham for festivalgoers
wishing to take a nostalgic trip behind steam – provisional departure 2.30pm*. The journey will afford passengers excellent views as the train steams through the cathedral city of Canterbury en-route to the coast.

This popular, lively festival recalls the traditional celebrations associated with the hop harvest - when an army of hop pickers would leave London for a working holiday in Kent. As well as street entertainers, musical acts, dancers and vintage Shepherd Neame vehicles, there's a host of activities at the Brewery and in Shepherd Neame ubs throughout town.

Brewery Tours, Music and Entertainment

Enjoy the traditional carnival atmosphere of the town’s annual Hop
Festival with musical acts, street entertainers, Morris Dancers and
hops galore. Special tours of the Shepherd Neame Brewery will take
place throughout the day – don’t miss the opportunity to take a look
behind the scenes at Britain’s Oldest Brewer – and take part in a
tutored tasting!
