SHEERNESS

Sheerness, on the Isle of Sheppey, although you probably won't realise it's an island, that juts out into the Thames. Henry VIII took part of his honeymoon in the area.
Established as a 19th century dockyard town, now an expanding port with services to Vlissingen in Holland.
