Dating back to 1380 the pub teems with character, the main bar has an Inglenook fireplace, a collection of old bottles and many photo's showing scenes from the Kentish hopping days, when whole families from London arrived en bloc to pick hops. This was usually the only holiday that most "working class" Londoner's would get.
The excellent restaurant also has an Inglenook fireplace, which has an old baker's oven with a brick floor. Wholesome meals are cooked to order using local produce wherever possible.
Situated four miles from the A2/M2 and five miles from the A20, it offers easy access to the motorway and the channel.
