400 years of history have been preserved at The Historic Dockyard, Chatham. All manner of Naval vessels have been built, from the wooden sailing ships, right up to modern nuclear powered submarines. HMS Victory, Nelsons Flagship was built here. Amherst Heritage Parks & Caverns CHATHAM Fort Amherst is Britain's finest Georgian Open every day April - October 10.30am to 4.00pm last admission. Saturdays & Sundays in November, January, February and March, open Dec 14th-26th. Fort Amherst is signposted from the centre of Chatham on the A231.
