We are looking for individuals or couples of any age to develop their skills with some of the most comprehensive and up to date training in the industry.

Training takes place in a number of recognised training pubs, and is combined with a series of off-site courses.

Our training is tailored to suit individual needs and, while courses follow set criteria, they don't follow set time scales. The objective is to develop motivated individuals who will soon become our best managers.

We also provide a fast track 'Managers in Training' programme for people with previous managerial experience.

Case History

Martyn & Caroline Cotton, Managers - The Vine Inn - Tenterden

Both Martyn & Caroline has previous experience in the hospitality industry although had not worked as a management couple prior to joining us.

Martyn started in the trade in 1994 and prior to joining us was a General Manager for Six Continents. Caroline has worked in the trade since 1998 starting as a member of bar staff and working her way up to Relief / Deputy Management.

Martyn & Caroline joined Shepherd Neame in October 2003 as Managers in Training at the Grove Ferry in Upstreet. They were given a comprehensive training programme where by practical on the job training was complemented by numerous courses including: NCL, Financial Management, Cellar Management, Liquor & Food GP Management.

In December 2003 they were asked to hold the Grove Ferry and then in March 2004 they were moved to hold the Blue Anchor. Following these two successful holds they were offered the position of permanent managers of the Blue Anchor in July 2004, and have subsequently moved to The Vine following it's refurbishment to a premier food & drink outlet in Tenterden.
